Polar Bear Plunge 2010

Saturday February 13, 2010 marked the 12th year the event was held at the Prairie Creek Campground, Beaver Lake. The event raises money for Arkansas Special Olympics. More than 200 participants took part in Saturday's plunge, raising more than $37,000. Arkansas is the only state in which participation in Special Olympians comes at no financial cost to the athletes. The organization covers uniforms, meals and lodging when athletes travel to competitions. Charles and 4 other colleagues participated in the plunge and raised $605. The estimated temperature of Beaver Lake water was 42 degrees at the Prairie Creek Swim Area.
